Quiet walks, birdwatching, swimming, fishing, spying the platypus at play or walk to the hilltop & watch the sun set on Mt.Barney As you drive through the dairy farms and cattle properties near Rathdowney the scenery changes dramatically. Soon you are dwarfed by the towering heights of the Scenic Rim. Mt. Lindsay, Ernest, Barney, Ballow, May and Maroon make for an enthralling drive into this world heritage region.

Tucked away in the middle of this picture you will find Barney Creek Vineyard and Cottages. The cottages, owned and built by husband and wife team, Barry Marshall and Jennifer Seale have been blended into a naturally beautiful environment that includes the vineyard, 2 creek frontages, the lake and a rambling country garden with great vistas to the mountains. Life is very seasonal here. Autumn brings warm days, cool evenings with a touch of chill at night. The grapevines and deciduous trees become a riot of colour, the creeks run crystal clear and the birdlife busies itself for the winter.

This is a time for picnic hampers, boules in the vineyard and long creekside walks. The onset of winter brings good reason to sleep in, watch the mists rise off the lake and creeks, herald the new vintage, taste the wines with a cheese or antipasto platter or enjoy a good read in a comfy chair. Time to light the fire and tuck into a Moroccan lamb roast and a bottle of aged shiraz and good coffee, topped off with port and chocolates. Spring is a time of renewal.

The vineyard, planted with shiraz, petit verdot, granache and mourvedre bursts into life, spring rains wash away the winter chills, the vegie garden is full of tasty organic vegetables and strawberries.

Summer brings dramatic thunderstorms, lush growth and hot balmy days - time to enjoy the swimming pool. Pick some flowers or enjoy a glass of champagne in the spa.

Total relaxation, romance and pampering or a good workout up a mountain; whatever is on your mind, if we havent already thought of it we will try to make it happen!
